Paragraph 23: "At times, to hinder detection of the unauthorized access to a victim's bank account, the conspirators sent hundreds of unsolicited emails to the email address associated with the victim's login credentials and bank account." This is an allegation in a charging document, unproven and denied by plea, but it is specific and it is the government's own description of the method. Neither DOJ press release mentions it. Email bombing is documented as a precursor in ransomware intrusions; here it is alleged as cover for a wire.
