Nationwide losses reach tens of millions of euros

Assessment

Thierry Cotillard, head of Les Mousquetaires, told BFMTV he expected losses in the 'tens of millions of euros' across France. This is an early estimate by one retail group's chief executive, made within days of the attack and before any victim or loss audit by investigators. Confirmed per-site figures are far smaller and specific — roughly €50,000 for one Intermarché frozen section, about €55,000 at an Issy-les-Moulineaux store, and up to €180,000–200,000 at one Coopérative U hypermarket. The nationwide total is a reasonable but unverified projection, not an established figure, and the Paris prosecutor's inquiry is still working to count victims and damage.

What “Assessed, Not Confirmed” means

A named source states this as its own assessment, at its own stated confidence, rather than as established fact. Attribution to a nation state usually sits here. The assessment is real and reportable; treating it as settled is the error.
